A LOOSE SCREW (A DANGEROUS THING)
Working in the kitchen a cupboard door fell on my hand,
It was not a part of anything that I had previously planned,
A loose screw in a cupboard door is a dangerous thing,
Especially when you call out and no aid does anyone bring.
The third call brought my son, I was still holding up the door
So the other screws would not tear out and it all fall to the floor,
Oh, you are stuck he cried and went for a screwdriver to find,
Me, still stooping on the floor, then giggles crept into my mind.
At last the door was secure, I continued the meal to cook,
Then at my right hand, quite sore, I took a closer look,
There the colours had already begun to change and swell,
I knew I would have a great big bruise that was easy to tell.
Last night my husband noticed the big bruise on my hand,
He had not heard me call, Im glad I wasnt in sinking sand,
He did not know of the loose screw in the kitchen cupboard door
And how I called for help, stooping in pain on the kitchen floor.
Now all the screws are tightened, except the ones in my head,
But they have been loose a long time or so some folks have said,
I dont think there is a tool that will tighten up my loose brain,
And so I might as well just stay as I am a little bit insane.
