IN THE WEST
I watched the glorious sun sinking in the west,
One by one birds were flying home to each nest,
A feeling of tranquility filled me with peace,
When the sun had gone, the beauty did not cease,
For the sky glowed with colours of a higher realm,
Tinted clouds sailing along an unseen hand at the helm,
Then the moon shone a bright sliver in the darkening sky,
Earthly sounds disappeared as this great beauty passed by.
In the distance two loons called to each other plaintively,
Then as the sky turned velvet blue many stars I did see,
Like diamonds being scattered by a great designers hand,
As night grew much darker, myriads shone over the land,
A gift given to mankind, I saw, and was filled with delight,
It fed me with a sense of well-being as I saw the lovely sight,
A few precious moments to remember until the day I die,
As I looked at the setting sun and stopped as I walked by.
