        A SUMMER COLD
A cold in the winter is not as bad
As one in the summer like I just had,
For in the winter there is a good cure
That can be tried by both rich and poor.

Run a bath and soak your aches in the tub,
Get out and give yourself a big towel rub,
Have a warm drink and then snuggle in bed
Suck a cough candy to clear your thick head.

But in summer when the heat gets you down,
Thoughts of this treatment brings on a frown,
All the simple cures are all warmth and comfort,
And these are no good as the cold you fought.

Lots of cold fluids, gallons you need to drink,
Enough, I deem, to make the Queen Mary sink!
Sucking cough candies makes you really sweat,
To curl up and just die is quite a realistic threat.

A shower makes you shiver, so you soak in the tub,
Then you cannot dry yourself however hard you rub,
Clothes are things you don’t really want to wear
But that means you cannot go out at all anywhere.

But summer colds come and some day they will go
And life continues on and normality will again flow,
So even if you contract a nasty summer cold, smile,
Even if you look like Rudolf on vacation for awhile.
