More poems about Rivers

RUFFLED RIBBON
The river was a ruffled ribbon of pink
tying up the green grass
Into a gift of beauty for those who looked
as they did pass,
Each ruffle embedded with diamonds
that took my breath away
As we wandered home over the river
at the end of the day.

Meandering slowly through the long grass
stirred by the cooling breeze,
It looked as though the lovely scene was
enjoyed by the great trees,
Just for a few short moments I saw
that wonderful sight,
The river, a ruffled ribbon of pink
glittering in the light.

Yet I know it will be ever sparkling with
it’s diamonds in my minds eye,
I just wonder if anyone else glanced
as they drove quickly by?
Little pockets of beauty hidden away,
but, oh, what sweet bliss
If you can see for a second a scene that was
given a heavenly kiss.
