        GETTING READY
We are getting ready for garage sale,
I know I’ll need a will of strong steel,
For I tend to be a squirrel, save everything,
So imagine the trauma the sale will being .

I have some pretty baskets, as good as new,
Just the things folks buy as they dig through
All the clutter, thinking that looks so sweet
Imagine flowers sitting near the hall seat.

Cooking things I have not used for years
I must part with, with shedding many tears,
Books I have read and reread, say goodbye
With a saddened look and a very deep sigh.

Clothes I give away to some good cause
Even then with reluctance I always pause,
Crafty things I also find hard to throw away,
I hope we have enough stuff, come a sale day.

Old jewelry is also hard, each piece some memory,
Some of great sentimental value just for poor old me,
But there are some items bought at other garage table,
They will be priced to sell, for those to part I am able.

But not any of our china, that would be too hard,
From this garage sale all china things are barred,
Save for a salt and pepper I bought the other day,
Although it’s cute in our home it need not stay.

We have two weeks, I wonder if we’ll chicken out?
Change our minds, and begin to somehow doubt
If it’s worth the effort to get rid of our good junk,
No, we’ll go ahead, and hope the sale does not flunk.
