HEAVENWARD BOUND
Every day we live we should be heavenward bound,
Yet many distracting side roads are for ever found,
Wanting to coax us from the straight and narrow way,
It takes courage and determination on the path to stay.

When we awake, we forget to pray, should we care?
Don’t read the scriptures, we had no times to spare,
We are taking backwards steps, like going astray,
Then we lose the vision of Jesus we need each day.

I want to be heavenward bound, yet oft times I slip,
Then I feel unworthy of His many gifts, my spirits dip,
Only to brighten as I remember His sacrifice divine,
For He took upon Him our sins, all your pain and mine.

We should not think we can’t make it, God cannot deceive,
He tells us heaven can be ours if we strive hard and believe,
It is the dark side that whispers to us, we are too full of sin
For us to make it to the gates of heaven and be allowed in.

Yes, I am heavenward bound, with God’s help I’ll be there,
As long as I do His will, my goods and talents always share,
Testify of the truth by deed and word anytime that I can,
Have a repentant heart, learn of His great eternal plan.

I hope to plod onward my heavenly goal to one day gain,
Accepting gratefully the joy, happiness, suffering and pain,
Striving to be worthy of that sweet heavenly home above,
Thanking Him all the way for His perfect, everlasting love.
