PIONEER PARADE
Listen! Can you hear the marching band?
I hope the weather is nice while here we stand
And watch all the floats go by,
I hope there are no clouds in the sky.
I am blind and cannot see each lovely float,
Dont really understand the colours they quote,
Kind friends take me, for I love the feeling there
When the memories of those pioneers is in the air.
Maybe because I am blind they seem so alive,
They know their struggles and that they did survive
Was all worth while, as they tell me what I cant see,
My own visions come so very clearly to me.
This one, they bury the new baby in the cold snow
The whole group comforting, not wanting to go
From that special place, I know the great pain
Here come the ox carts, children playing an old game
Tears stream down from my unseeing eyes,
Do people realize what a great valued prize
Is the talent to see, but at least I can feel
Of the pioneer spirit that is so very real.
Heres your Mary, she sounds good playing in the band,
I know I said, I can hear, they should understand.
My spiritual eyes see the pioneers standing by my side
And the joy of the parade I just cannot ever hide.
