LUPINES
I picked some lupin pods, bought some seeds as well,
And hope they will grow in the garden where I dwell,
Then in summer they will be a reminder of the holiday
When we went to visit the east coast so very far away.
We saw them in shades of blue, pink and rich cream,
It was as though we traveled in some gardeners dream,
They mingled with the wild iris and roses everywhere,
A botanists paradise with so many flowers right there.
So when those lupines grow in our garden we will also see
All the other flowers growing as pretty as they can be,
I wonder, if we listen hard the sound of the sea we will hear,
Close our eyes and smell the flowers so bring the sounds near?
I hope year after year my lupines put on a good show,
Get some rambling roses and hope that they will grow,
So in a corner of our garden Nova Scotia well see
Bringing back every year a happy holiday memory.
