ROCKY SHORE
A grassy path meandered along the rocky shore,
It was as though Id been there many times before,
The open sea before me, calling so loud and clear,
Like a dream come true, my home feeling very near.
I could not count the wild flowers, birds I didnt know,
As they dived and swooped they put on a special show
Just for me, they danced in the sky especially for me,
Telling me, this is your home, where you should be.
The call of the wild and the sea beaconed me to come,
Come and stay and rest until your lifes journeys done,
Just like the sirens that called many sailors to their fate,
Yes, those voices called, but I would not leave my mate.
Too long we have loved and lived hearts beating as one,
Knowing this is not the place, when all is said and done,
This place for awhile has quenched the hunger in me
And brought back to remembrance many happy memory.
There is something very beguiling about the beautiful sea,
As she shows her sweet, calm and gentle face to soften me,
But glancing even when she is calm the currents show,
Tells of her hidden cruelty as the four seasons come and go.
Could you call her friend as she carelessly, often kills
And destroys, but the call there in my heart always thrills,
She calls, but I will not obey her, Ill just live near a lake
And simply dream of you friend sea and make the wiser choice.
