MG SPORTS CAR
Driving along Lakeshore just as slow as it could be,
Was a lovely, top down, bright red fast going MG,
Driven by a woman who looked about aged fifty three,
Although Im close to seventy she drove older than me.
If that sleek machine was driven by my very steady hand,
Id try and find my way to the Salt Flats smooth sand,
There I would put my foot down, see how fast I could go,
Then on streets and highways just over the speed limit go.
Id get a pair of goggles to keep the wind from my eyes,
And when the police stop me, see their great surprise,
As they see a speeding granny in a fast going sport car,
Theyd let me off with a warning, tell me not to go too far.
Maybe that slow sedate lady of about aged fifty three,
Should keep that speeding sports car far away from me,
Because deep down inside this aging frame of mine
Is the heart of a teenager to whom going fast is sublime.
