SUMMER
Summer brings a thousand flowers,
Long days and many sunny hours,
Gentle breezes, warm refreshing rain,
Her first appearance we welcome again.
Gone is all the winter warm clothing
And boots, gone the sweaters of spring,
Pretty dresses and short shorts worn,
No longer is anyone all sad or forlorn.
But as the heat of the summer wears on,
The temperatures soar as the victory is won
Over cold, you may wish she didnt try so hard,
As you try weed and mow in your back yard.
You cannot eat salad every day all summer through,
And ice cream is fattening so what can we do?
Cooking helps you slim as you sweat and fry,
As a cooked meal you prepare and nearly die.
It would be good to eat out nearly every day,
Walk round all the malls to stay cool that way,
I am not complaining for summer is now here,
But its already 35degs and getting hotter I fear,
But after that long, cold winter for awhile Ill enjoy
The heat and the sun, and a punkah-wallah Ill employ
To fan me both day and night, for a even gentle breeze,
Giving him a rest as I swim and take my ease.
PS
No Punkah-wallahs could anywhere be found,
Air conditioning and get used to the sound.
