More poems about the Sea

        CAN YOU HEAR IT
Listen! Can you hear it? Or is it my beating heart?
Far away the sound of the sea pounding on the shore,
The cry of the herring gulls, each doing their part
To bring alive the call of the sea to me once more.

The lake helps when the wind blows, and waves break
On the loose stones and birds glide in the turbulence,
It’s almost the same, but for the salt, and I know it’s fake,
Even if you close your eyes only smaller waves prance.

Soon we will go and visit the great north Atlantic sea,
Hope to see mountainous waves topped with white
Horses galloping home, heads high as proud as can be,
Sitting in safety just watching the sea’s power and might.
