SILENT SUNSET
Sitting in silence just before the sun goes to rest,
Chattering birds quiet as they return to their nest,
The breeze barely moving trees, the great lake still,
Everyone seemed to bend to some powerful will.

Fragrance of the flowers increased in the evening air,
There seemed to be a feeling of expectance everywhere,
It appeared at that moment that all nature held it’s breath,
As the sun sank over the lake in the splendor of death.

Radiant colours flowed across the still lake and sky,
Even the seagulls wings changed as they did fly,
No noisy squawks did they make, but in silence did glide,
Even they were silenced when then in glory the sun died .

See the red tipped clouds with a gold and purple trim,
The sun a ball of deep crimson, brightness never dim,
But as if marching home in glory after a great battle won,
Telling us all that this lovely day is almost faded and gone.

See how the sun paints for us so many colours up above,
Filling the scene with great beauty, showing us great love,
May this sunset bring us all sweet joy and great happiness
As we see this prize given to us in such kind tenderness.
