This one is a real beauty, folks. Starring Sylvester Stallone and David Carridine, imagine (if you can) a post-apocalyptic world, where the most important annual sporting event is the transcontinental "Death Race." In this event, a driver (and his sidekick) earn points based upon their speed from Point A to Point B as well as the number of people that they kill along the way.
Carradine plays the role of Frankenstein (creative writers, don't you think?) who is a past winner but has suffered incredible injuries and is trying a comeback. He draws a female sidekick with whom he is less than thrilled, but as the movie wears on, their relationship improves.
Stallone is a 1930's gangster, complete with machine guns attached to the roof of his car. His sidekick is the stereotypical gun moll--blond, attractive, and about as intelligent as a brick. In my opinion, the best quote of the movie (and the one that best describes how bad this flick really is) was made by Stallone toward his sidekick, when he says something to the effect of, "You know, some people might think you're cute, but to me, you're just a big baked potato."
After that quote, you should get a general idea of the level of intelligence of this film. In spite of everything bad in this film, it is one of my all-time favorites (which says quite a bit about my intellect!). It is difficult to find these days, so if you find a copy, grab it. It will be worth your time. And let me know where you found it, as I would love to find a copy for myself!
