![]() "I suppose that more than one of his friends was looking for something in wood for Jason Wecter, but it fell to my lot to find it one day in an out-of-the-way second-hand shop in Portland, where I had gone for a holiday --a strange piece indeed, but exquisitely done, a kind of bas-relief of an octopoid creature rising out of a broken monolithic structure in a sub-aqueous setting. The price of four dollars was extremely reasonable, and the fact that I could not interpret the carving was, if anything, all the more likely to add to its value in Wecter's eyes."
This is a small listing of professionally made Mythos items you can purchase, followed by a list of my favourite Mythos sites. I recommend looking on eBay the online auction service for out of print Mythos books and other items. NECRONOMICONS:
Here is information about the paperback Avon Necronomicon (i.e. the Simon Necronomicon). Here is a (fuzzy) advertisement for a larger Necronomicon scanned by Donovan Loucks a couple years ago. I have recently learned that this is simply a hardcover version of the Simon Necronomicon listed above. Copies of this book sometimes appear on eBay. Here is a picture of the George Hay/Colin Wilson Necronomicon. Amazon.com has information about the availability of the Simon Necronomicon as well as the George Hay/Colin Wilson Necronomicon (ISBN 1871438160), and the R'lyeh Text (ISBN 187143890X). Wizard's Attic sells a Necronomicon for Dummies text book cover. Dan Clore runs a page with information about all the different fake Necronomicons, and a list of those available on the internet. CTHULHU STATUES:
Garrett Heinstrom will carve you a beautiful Cthulhu statue out of soap stone for $200-$500 depending on size (6"-12"). You can write him at:
94 Highland Rd. Apt #3 Somerville MA, 02144 USA
Wizard's Attic sells a vinyl Cthulhu model and the Bowen Designs sculpture along with a lot of other great things. Here is a photo of a garage kit Cthulhu that was available a few years ago. Here are my favourite Mythos links:
