![]() "He would now and then back up certain crazy hints by exhibiting objects which utterly nonplussed me --elusively coloured and bafflingly textured objects like nothing ever heard of on earth, whose insane curves and surfaces answered no conceivable purpose and followed no conceivable geometry. These things, he said, came 'from outside'...."
What you can create is limited only by your imagination and means. In this section I will give you some ideas of things you can make. Certainly there are many more possibilities. ![]() Using some of the Sculpey left over from making Alien Statues you can make an Elder Sign. Making an Elder Sign now has its own page! Cryptic notes and symbols can be drawn on paper aged with coffee or tea. Also look for homemade paper. Many shops sell paper with leaves, hair, or other things imbedded in the page. But don't limit yourself just to paper. Try drawing on a scrap of woven cloth, or a piece of leather. Try your hand at illumination. There are plenty of books out there to help you. Calligraphy isn't easy, but it makes a stunning finished product. Wax seals are available at stationary stores with a variety of seals. These look great on illuminated manuscripts. Also try making a wax seal on a piece of ribbon which can then be used as a bookmark in your Mythos Tome. Making shards of pottery or tablets out of Plaster of Paris is easy. Using an old plastic container as a mold you can make a great blank tablet. And Plaster of Paris is easy to paint or draw on. ![]() I took an old book (in this case the Wonder Book of Knowledge) that was significantly larger than my Necronomicon and hollowed it out. Although I used a hacksaw, I would recommend that you use a jigsaw. I then glued the pages back in with wood glue and, ta-da! I have a great place to hide my Necronomicon! ![]() Faking photos is ambitious, but can be done. Probably the easiest way is to use black and white film. I achieved a very nice effect by positioning my subject with the sun just a little behind him. It created a washed out appearance similar to old film. The following photo was taken by a friend of mine, I have no idea what kind of film she used to get this effect, but it is quite nice. ![]() Another option would be to bring your Necronomicon or statue of Cthulhu with you to a county fair and have one of those "aged photos" taken of yourself with it.
![]() Using more sophisticated modeling techniques someone could sculpt a mythos entity like this Deep One in a bottle. Bottling a Deep One now has its own page! Making full head masks These are just a few of the things you can make. It can't hurt to try, so take a chance and see what you can create. Experiment with these ideas and above all, have fun!
