4. Subject: looking for a teacher

I apologize for asking this over the waves, but my friend is in a bit of a bind; his brother did not quite understand how long it would take a broker to get a foreign teacher for his institute. My friend is trying desperately to locate one, temporarily or permanently, to comply with his brother' date for opening the institute. The institute is in Wagan. If there is any one of you who is interested in acquiring a teaching job in this country town inbetween Taegu and Kumi please directly contact my friend Ik-su.

home: (0545)973 - 2386
office: (0545)975 - 2900

Ik-su will be in his office until about 20:00 every night this week, including Saturday.

Thanks.

5. Hello to all my fellow Tesljb-lers,

I would like to announce that my university, Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is seeking candidates for a full-time teaching position in the Language Center here. Qualified applicants must have an M.A. in TESL. For more information on the position or to find out about the application process, send e-mail to yypark@sorak.kaist.ac.kr or

send fax to
82-42-869-8730, both to the attention of Dr. Young Ye Park.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME FOR PARTICULARS ON THE JOB OR HOW TO APPLY.

I am willing to answer questions privately in regard to teaching here in Taejon or at Kaist, but I teach in the regular program so my knowledge of the position is incomplete.

I can tell you that the job involves teaching only KAIST students who voluntar- ily sign up and pay for the course. That all classes are in the late afternoon and evening and end at 9:50pm. That you will teach three classes per day, 4 days a week, MTThF. Also you will have a small apartment on campus, and your own office.

One other thing: They really like teachers who have a very VERY positive atti- tude towards Korean culture and Korean values. And the staff and colleagues and especially the students are WONDERFUL.

By the way, KAIST is comparable to MIT in the US in terms of quality and goals.

Thanks.

Kirsten B. Reitan English gyosu (professor) KAIST, Taejon, Korea reitankb@sorak.kaist.ac.kr
