Colorado

I am a native of the colorful state of Colorado.  I lived there until I was
a young adult at which time I moved to Iowa.  I have never stopped
yearning for my Colorado mountains.  Someday I plan to return to my
home state to live.  In the meantime, I have placed a few pictures here
to help me remember the beauty that is there.  I hope you enjoy them
        as much as I do.

This is Black Bear Pass. It is in the San Juan mountains in Southwestern Colorado.
The picture was taken by my friend Mickey Allen

I was raised in the Northwestern corner of Colorado, in a little town
        called Rangely.  Rangely Homepage

The country there is very rugged and almost desert like.  I love that
part of the state, but my favorite part of Colorado is the Southwest.
Ouray, Silverton, Telluride, are all beautiful towns in the Southwest
corner.  Telluride, of course, is home to many famous people.  Silverton
is an old mining town that just happens to be the home of my Uncle
and a few cousins.  It is also a haven for city folks looking for an idyllic
mountain village. But Ouray is not quite so touristy.  It is a great place
to spend a few days climbing high up in the mountains, enjoying a
good meal, fishing in a mountain stream, or just passing time
        reflecting on nature's wonders.

This is a link to the Ouray homepage.   Ouray   Take a few minutes and check it out.  And next time you venture into the glorious state of Colorado, take the time to go to the Southwest and discover the most spectacular part of my great home state.

Another of my favorite places to visit in Colorado is Dinosaur National
Monument. It is located just a few miles from my hometown.  It is a
neat place to take your kids because it is a real life Jurassic Park! Here
is a link to the National Park Service DNM homepage.
                                                 DINOSAURS!

This is a picture of Steamboat Rock.

One last thing before I end this page.  One of the strongest visual
images I keep of my home in colorado is not the glorious mountains or
the crystal clear streams.  It is not skiing in Vail or going to a concert
at Red Rocks.  Actually it is that of an oil rig.  I was raised in the
middle of oil country and the sight of an oil rig was more common than
that of a mule deer or an elk.  I thought this picture was perfect.
