What is the purpose of my life?

I believe the purpose our lives is to be members of God's family -- to live in a loving personal relationship with God and each other. Paul tells us in Ephesians:

Ephesians 1:3-5 (NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--

God created each of us to be part of His family. However, He gave us freewill ... we can "opt out" if we so choose. In fact, everyone I know who is now part of God's family earlier in life had "opted out." Each of us needed to choose to give our lives to God to become part of His family.
