Snail Stairwell Page 5
The frog first tried to get out by jumping. But after ten
jumps, he realized the hole was too deep. He then tried calling
for help.
"Help, I'm a frog trapped inside a hole and I can't get out!"
he cried. He said this many times but no one responded.
He felt very tired from the jumping and yelling so he sat
down to rest and think. Because the walls of the hole were
smooth and very steep, it would be impossible for him to climb
them. After a long time, the frog feared he might never get out
and felt very sad. He was tormented by the vision of an
agonizing death from starvation, but found a little solace in
the thought that a natural predator would probably finish him
off long before that could happen.
