A Rose in the Tundra
A Rose in the Tundra

A frozen wasteland was this barren plain
Shadowed with gloom, misery, and pain
The heart of a man both cracked and spent
His shoulders slumped and his back was bent
The burdens of others he had carried so long
Had taken the toll of what once was strong

No sun nor rain could reach this man's soul
No magic nor miracle to make his heart whole
Where does one go when hope is all gone
Wearily he travels: ever forward, ever on
Destination unknown for nothing matters now
Another beast of burden pulling life's plow

A sound in the distance not heard for so long
Her footstep, her voice, her own special song
Dare he to look, dare he once more to dream
Things as they are or things as they seem
It matters not as he sees with his heart
Some souls are meant never to part

His heart opens up to the warmth of the sun
The frozen ice melts and soon there is none
New seeds are planted for a brighter tomorrow
Dreams now blossom without pain, without sorrow
And in the memory of the tundra he knows
He carries the heart of his beloved rose
