Despite having slept three hours (at least I think it was three) this afternoon, I'm still feeling remarkably sleepy tonight. One would think the logical thing to do is say, "I'm sleepy, so I shall sleep". However, I find myself saying, I'm sleepy, but it's too early, so what shall I do to keep awake?
Jumping jitter-bugs, I haven't updated in a loong while. I think I spend a lot of time thinking of possible topics and establishing a focus that I don't have much energy to write. A friend told me one to just tell focus to take a hike. Hmm. Mebbe.
Ooh, hope you Americans had a good 4th. The rest of the world, however, were glued to the TV watching the World Cup. I hear it was a fairly good game. Unfortunately, I have no enlightening thoughts to share about the event. So, let's just move right along.
One of the "rules of writing", so I've heard/read, is that a writer should always know her audience. The intended-audience, anyway. I find that I write better stuff when I don't think of who might be reading it. I'm probably misinterpretating this particular rule. Obviously, one shouldn't write technical jargon for children, etc, etc. Of course, after writing something, I take great pains to hide it from the audience. It's a little hard to do that here. I'm still relying on the trick of not thinking about it.
I was asked once how I could put up thoughts/opinions/etc knowing total strangers and then not would stumble on it. That was months ago. And I still don't know. But I do know it's sometimes easier to throw certain truths to strangers than to people you know.. Since then, I've had a few relatives wander here. Now, that was just plain scary. Mayhaps I do have an intended audience.. one's that's a little reversed -- "everyone except . . ." Mebbe for the mere reason it's just a little maddening to look at the people you know... and wonder what condemning thoughts they harbor towards the less..revealed parts of who you are.
I discovered that my last guestbook has quietly packed up and left. I don't believe I managed to make a copy on my local HD, so quite a handful of entries are gone. Oh well. Pity. Guestbooks are odd little things.. Once.. I just went guestbook tracing, visiting, following the links left by the entries, etc. You can almost see how some people jump from one homepage to another..and yet another. Anyway.. I've got a new one up.
Ohh, it's a reasonably late "enough" to turn in, I think. Besides, I'm getting muddled enough as it is.. So, until next time. Toodles.
