I was going to write something about the water-rationing affecting my neighborhood not too long ago . . . and then comes the first rainstorm we've had in weeks, drenching me completely. Soaked jeans aren't fun. My "inspiration" doused, so to speak, I moped around and left Scribbles sadly neglected.

On the other hand, just a day or so ago, a main water pipe burst. Those who were already affected by water-rationing moaned and groaned, while those who weren't supposed to be affected screamed in shock. Water's coming back slowly, but the rationing's still on. Some people can't understand that concept. :-P Imagine stepping into the shower, soaped up... and then realizing the water flow is slowly decreasing. Or better yet, soaping up your face... and turning the tap on, and realize there's no water to get those suds off!

Do you know how many times you can "reuse" water? Desperate times call for desperate measures. We've got a pail next to the sink for "miscellaneous" recycling. That includes the droplets of water you can shake off after washing your hands. "Don't wipe! Recycle!"

It doesn't help, either, because of the lack of rain, we've got temperatures hitting 35 and 36. Every single fan, air-condition and ventilator is on to help keep everyone cool. Sweating is simply not ideal-- especially when you have no idea whether there will be enough for a proper wash. I can see you all reading this with digust or disbelief. :-) It could be worse... we could have a national black-out.

It's Mother's Day! Take time to show some appreciation, ok? At the risk of sounding corny, mothers are amazing. Actually, parents are amazing. They might have been naive enough to think raising children was easy, but once they were in... they managed to fool everyone into thinking they're still sane! (ducks) Ah well, I'm just blowing hot steam here. Not about them being amazing though... And maybe not about them being crazy, either. ;-)
