Priority and Resource Allocation: The Ops program automatically handles most routine scheduling and resource allocation. This leaves the Operations manager free to concentrate on decisions beyond the scope of the artificial intelligence software. The level of these decision requirements can be set using various filter programs and this also varies depending on the current alert status of the ship.

The Ops personal has the ability to choose from a wide range of input operations and selections as mission planners can not anticipate every possible situation that any given ship may run into.

In the event of crisis situations and Reduced Power Mode operations, Ops is responsible for the supervision of power allocation in coordinating with the Engineering department. The Ops officer is also responsible for providing information to the main computer, which then is made available to all departments and personal.
