Heart-broken

by Betsy C. B.

Heart-broken

By the loss of a love

So profound that even Heaven

Was brightened by its light.

The angels are weeping.

My soul dims

     and being fades

          perhaps to nothingness . . .

I care not.

The Universe is lessened

By a power of two

And we are all diminished.

I stand alone

In infinite sadness.

Bubble creatures are gone.

Dolphins lie dead in my arms.

Hippos drown in the sea

And darkness envelops Eternity.

Cry for me.

Cry for us all.
