Maureen is Sidney's mom who was murdered almost a year before the movie starts. Billy Loomis and Stuart Macher killed her and framed Cotton Weary for her murder. Sidney saw someone leaving in Cotton's jacket and that same jacket was found in Cotton's car. Sidney testified against Cotton at his trial and got him sent to death row.

Mrs. Prescott was some what of a slut. She slept around town-Cotton Weary was one of her lovers. Another one was Billy's dad. Mrs. Prescott was the reason why Billy's mom left his dad. Thats why Maureen was killed and why a year later her daughter also suffered for it.
