Voyager finds what is apparently a wormhole straight back to Earth, and as they investigate they are more and more convinced. However, Seven of Nine isn't so certain.
This is quite an intriguing tale, at least in the beginning. If you've seen the trailer for it, any slight surprise is spoilt. Which is what I'm about to do, so if you don't want to know what's really going on, don't read on. Yes, the Voyager is about to be eaten by a giant space creature.
Once this is discovered, things take a serious downturn. With all the crew experiencing their greatest joys (although nothing too fancy which would give the creature away), Seven and the Doctor must find a way to escape the beast, with the aid of young Naomi Wildman and a fellow Captain who's been inside the creature for a long time. Morgan W Sheppard puts some work into this character, but there's really nothing in the script for him to work from, making rather a pointless role, which doesn't serve much of a useful function helping Voyager anyway.
Scarlett Pomers is once again great as the young Wildman, trying to help Seven as the only other member of the crew unaffected (although it's never explained why). It's also getting to be something of a cliche that the Doctor and Seven have to save the ship. How do normal crews without a constantly on-line EMH and an ex-Borg manage?
Watching the crew get duped at the beginning is quite intriguing, but with no b-plot, trying to escape a space monster just doesn't hold the attention. There's a nice little scene at the end showing the aline Captain re-entering the monster, presumably to help any future people who become trapped, but there's very little material here.
