His body jerked. The mind, not wanting to comprehend what had just happened, tried to shut everything down.
"What ... what ... how?
The words erupted in a frenzy of pain and shock, garbled as what remained of his mouth did it's best to produce the necessary sounds. Stumbling back further, Scorponok's logic circuits reasserted themselves. From within, the secondary computer began it's run of commands.
"Severe damage to this unit's face plate has occurred. Initiating self-repair mode. Pain dampeners on-line." Without conscious provocation, secondary panels in the back of Scorponok's head began sliding around to the front. The sides joined tightly together and fused as one in the front, effectively forming a a second face for the damaged Predacon. Straightening his body as the pain began to ebb, Scorponok found a very small portion of his fear and shock give way to anger.
Moving towards the opening, but keeping a safe distance between himself and the creature's reach, Scorponok peered yet again through his battle helmet. What he saw confirmed his earlier readings.
"Incredible. The creature is composed mainly of Energon. But there's something else in it's chemical composition that seems so ... familiar" With a sense of uncertain dread, the Predacon backed up enough to where his fallen face components lied. Bending down, Scorponok picked up the remains of his face, supressing a wave of nausea induced by his organic components.
"Computer, analyze face plate. Subject analysis: creature residue. Query: What are the active compounds of creature residue?" He looked back over his shoulder as he waited for the computer to begin it's scan, half expecting the creature to be behind him. Pushing down the irrational fear, he turned around, focusing his attention on the gruesome sight that he held in his claws.
"Analysis complete. Following are the active components which compose query's residue: 25% unknown material. Supposition: alien origin. 50% pure energon." The computer actually paused before reading the final component of the residue, as if not believing itself what it was about to say. And as the computer voiced it's final analysis, Scorponok turned to face the opening which protected him from the creature.
"25% Cybertronian DNA." 1
