Sonny had always been a curious person. Even before the man in the yellow skin took him home from the jungle, Sonny had wondered about the world around him. And although he was quite content with swinging from trees and eating bananas, Sonny always wondered about the things that went on around him. He wondered about things like why the sky was blue, why the water made a reflection when he looked at it, and why all the other jungle animals would turn away whenever he farted. Sonny was excited by almost everything he saw; he wondered about how things were made and how they worked. And although Sonny didn't always find out the answers to his questions, he was often seen in the jungle staring for hours at shiny objects.
Unlike the jungle though, college was full of shiny new objects for Sonny. There were so many shiny things to stare at, Sonny usually didn't get to sleep until four or five o'clock in the morning. But out of all the shiny new things Sonny found, his favorite was his computer. Sonny had heard tales about computers when he used to live in the jungle, but he had never touched one before. At first, he was confused. There were so many buttons to push and it even had a tail with a ball hidden inside. Sonny's roommate tried to teach him about computers and told Sonny that the tail was a mouse, but it didn't taste like any mouse that Sonny had ever tasted. So he just called it a Microsoft instead because someone had already written that on the top.
At first, Sonny didn't know what to do with his new computer. He would wiggle his Microsoft around all the time and press the buttons, but there wasn't much to do. He would write papers for his classes and he would play minesweeper and solitaire, but it wasn't nearly as exciting as the stories he'd heard about computers. It was as if Sonny's computer was missing something. At first, he thought he needed something called a Pong, but he couldn't find that anywhere in the box that came with his computer.
Then one day, Sonny discovered something called the internet and his life changed instantly. The internet amused him for days at a time; it had pictures of animals that reminded him of his swamp and jungle families and it had pictures of people that reminded him of his adopted family, though the members of his adopted family usually wore clothes. Sometimes when he saw these pictures, he had flashbacks of when he had watched pieces of his family carried away by the flood years earlier. This often made him angry, so he would take long walks through the corridors of the internet and shoot everyone he came in contact with while the ground would Quake(TM) beneath him. This offered him temporary relief and even some enjoyment, but Sonny soon grew tired of this too and he sought out something new.
It was then that Sonny learned about something called e-mail. It allowed Sonny to talk to people all around the world. Unfortunately, there was no one for Sonny to talk to. His adopted family had died in the flood, and unless his swamp family had a laptop, there would be nowhere for them to plug in their computers. Sonny realized once again that he was alone in the world and this made him sad, no matter how much he wiggled his Microsoft.
