Chapter 7 - Blind Justice

After the flood, Sonny's life was never the same; his days were filled with pain and he barely slept. And even when he did get an hour or two of rest, he was haunted by nightmares of his adopted family's death. The swamp no longer felt like his home and the animals no longer felt like his family. Naked and alone, Sonny left the swamp and headed toward the Gothic City to seek out a better life. He had heard stories about the large metropolis and wanted to start life anew, away from his painful past.

He moved swiftly along the countryside towards the city, partly due to the speed he acquired from the swamp pentium and partly due to the fact he didn't have any clothes on to weigh him down. However, his journey to the city was cut short by the emergance of an unexpected individual. On his way to the city, a police officer crept out from his hiding place and blocked Sonny from continuing on. Encouraged by the stories he had heard of these uniformed officials, Sonny gladly stopped to talk to the officer. He informed the badged magistrate of his tragedy in the hopes of gaining assistance, or at least sympathy. But the officer would not listen to Sonny's story. He just stared blankly at the young man's naked body and waited for him to finish speaking. At the conclusion of Sonny's tale, the officer sprung into action. Unfortunately, Sonny didn't get what he expected. He didn't get a helping hand or a pat on the back. What he recieved was more like a knife in the back or a slap in the face. What he felt was a slap on the wrist and the long arm of the law. The police officer arrested Sonny for indecent exposure and brought him to prison.

Prison life was a special experience for Sonny. All of his cellmates were very fond of him and always gave him gifts. Sometimes, they would give him gifts one at a time, and other times they would surround him and give him one big gift. But Sonny never felt comfortable accepting the gifts. Actually, he hated the gifts and he was relieved when his sentence was finally completed.
