In-reply-to Skywise Memorial
I think Daniel raises a valid concern regarding the setting of a precedence. However, I find it difficult to share his prespective on "fantasy vs. real world" and the meaning of memorials. The idea behind Skywise's Inn is not as a place of sadness and mourning but one of celebration, a place where one might pause a moment as they pass to refresh that special human spirit inside us all with thoughts of a man cherished by so many.
Daniel is correct. People die everyday. Yet our lives are not cluttered with depressing reminders of those that have died and had a building or park or town named in their honor. There are many such memorials in each of the places we all live and they serve a function even though they go largely unnoticed in our daily lives. Yet on occasion we may pause and consider in such place. It is well that we should do so.
Would the Realm become a graveyard of names? Hardly. Do any of us live in such place now? If one so chooses to view their lives and the places where they dwell with such morbidity then so be it. I, for one, find something to be gained each time I take a moment to notice a place named for someone who has gone before and to listen to the meaning of the life it commerates.
But, what the heck do I know?
