Name: Bishop
Real Name: Unknown.
Age: Late 20's.
Place of Origin: New York city, in an alternate future.
First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #282
Powers: Ability to absorb an energy attack and rechannel is as a concussive force blast.
Background: Bishop comes from a possible future where mutants rule the earth. There he was part of a radical police force that established order despite chaos. He was accidentally brought to the present by a gateway of Fitzroy, while attempting to recapture the villain, but Bishop's two companions died at the hands of Fitzroy and his outlaws. Bishop was then taken to Xavier by the
X-Men.
Since his future is not quite pleasant, he's always alert and shows an excess of violence most times, although his life with the
X-Men seems to have controlled him a bit. His mutant power consists of absorbing any type of energy and use it back against
a target. It is also know that although Bishop did not kill or his sister, Shard, or let her die, he still feels responsible for her death. The mutant named Mountjoy said that Shard's death was exaggerated. In Bishop's future, both of them joined the mutant police, but Shard was the one to get promoted, since Bishop didn't want to miss out on the action and not be in the streets that were his first home; he
also had something of an attitude problem. Shard is now back as a living hologram in the X-Factor team.
In the future where Bishop comes from, all the X-Men died except for one; Gambit, which leads him to believe that Gambit is the infamous traitor. Because of this fact, Bishop always keeps a watchful eye on him and still doesn't trust him completely. However, it was recently shown in the Onslaught saga that the x-traitor was none other than Charles Xavier, but this is as Onslaught.
Another rumor is that Bishop is M's son. Crap, I hope not. I disagree with this one and refuse to comment any further on it. Thank you, please drive through.
