General UFOs:

The Hynek UFO Report by Dr. J. Allen Hynek
"The book you are about to read highlights a startling proposition: UFO reports cannot be explained in conventional terms, no matter how loudly official science claims that the observations are merely hallucinations, mirages, and hoaxes. Such debunking does not belie the mountain of reliable testimony presented in these pages."
--From the forward to the 1997 edition by Jacques Vallee

One of the most influential books in UFOlogy, and also one of the best. Hynek spent 20 years as a consultant for the Air Force's Project Blue Book and used to think of UFO enthusiasts as crack pots. In this book he shows what it is that changed his opinion. Among it's contents are over 12,000 sightings, information on what Blue Book was and how they mislead the public and information on what close encounters of the first, second and third kind are. Does a great job of showing that UFO eye-witnesses are not all crack pots. A must read for any UFO enthusiast!

Unconventional Flying Objects : A Scientific Analysis by Paul R. Hill
Here is a book to intrigue both non-technical and more mechanically inclined UFO enthusiasts. Without making a case for the origins of UFOs, Hill argues that their functionality is feasible by applying established principles of physics to existing reports in which an amazingly consistent UFO behavior has been described. In language which is technically sound, but not so advanced that the layman could not understand, Hill works out several possible propulsion systems for these mysterious craft.

Uninvited Guests by Richard Hall
In 1965, Richard Hall, then Acting Director of a civilian UFO group in Washington, D.C., was questioned by a CIA agent and given a direct telephone line to his office using it to report some high quality UFO sightings, as requested. Many years later he used the Freedom of Information and Privacy acts to request CIA files mentioning him by name. Some previously known documents were obtained after an appeal, but the CIA refused to release the security clearance "paper trail." Information revealed includes:
+ Close Encounters/The Vehicular Kind + Magic Technology + The Humanoids + Bodies In The Morgue + The Big Secret + Extraterrestrial Psychology + Case Book: A Global Cross Section Of The UFO Mystery + Sample Government UFO Documents + Crashed Saucers + Abduction Reports
Are they visitors from another planet? Are they human-like or human time travelers or beings from some other realm presently unknown to science? This is not a book of answers because nobody on any side of the issue really knows what UFOs are. Instead it is a book of questions starting with...What if UFOs are real? What might this mean for Humankind?

UFOs Are Real : Extraterrestrial Encounters Documented by the U.S. Government by Clifford E. Stone
Using the Freedom of Information Act to patiently outduel bureaucrats at Air Force and Navy Intelligence the CIA and the Department of State Stone obtained documents with minimally excised portions but with significant testimony from armed forces personnel still intact. they not only deal with major American UFO sites such as the alien crash site in Roswell NM but also major sightings that include hard evidence (such as unidentifiable metal fragments and chemical residues) in places like the Caribbean the Horn of Africa and the Himalayas. Beyond records of sightings and other fascinating reportage by armed forces personnel there is much evidence to prove that the government is covering up more information than it is reluctantly revealing.

Night Siege : The Hudson Valley UFO Sightings by Dr. J. Allen Hynek, Philip J. Imbrogno, Bob Pratt
New Year's Eve 1982 marked the beginning of one of the most puzzling UFO cases in recent times: the Hudson Valley "siege." The siege begot over 7,000 sightings of a boomerang-shaped craft or crafts moving silently through the sky over New York and Connecticut between 1982 and 1995. Night Siege is the collaborative effort of Hynek, Imbrogno, and Pratt to report the data gathered from witnesses of this mystifying experience, without speculation of what it might be. If you missed the first edition of Night Siege, this is your chance to delve into the Hudson Valley mystery. If you have read the first edition, you may be interested in the additional data covering sightings from 1986 to 1995, the graphical analysis of the UFO's appearance, and the chronology of the sightings. Aside from the purely factual value of the catalog of reports in Night Siege, its coverage of an undeniable series of events that somehow went largely untouched by the local authorities and the national media invites speculation into the origins of these silent objects. --Brian Patterson
