History:
Kiron was one of the first human deities in Kyrmas. He found ready acceptance among warlike humans, and even many humanoids that venerated martial prowess. Over the years, Kiron became better known upon battlefields, and often was viewed as the patron deity of soldiers. Kiron has evolved from a more chaotic past, to become a stable figurehead, and a much-venerated deity of the war torn lands of Kyrmas.
Church:
The church of Kiron has a wide variety of followers, the majority professional soldiers and mercenaries, but also many adventuring warriors. While some worship Kiron as a deity of combat, the majority follows him as a deity of how combat should be performed. Of all deities, Kiron’s priests are the most likely to serve with mercenary companies, city guards, and armies. The church dedicates much of its time to training soldiers, as well as serving governments with military matters to strengthen its position. The other dividing line of the church is that there are two major sects of the faith, those who follow the fury of battle, and those that lead battles.
Tenants of the Faith:
*War is a means to an end, and never should be conducted for no valid reason. It is not a priest job to insight a war so battles will be fought. There will always be a time and place for war, much like a druidic cycle.
*Battle for the sake of killing is murder, murder is wrong. Dying for a cause on the field of combat is noble.
*Combat does not have to be a waste of lives, it should be conducted with planning, but sometimes the fury takes hold.
*War is not always the solution, fighting a war and wasting the lives of soldiers is wrong, when simple words would be a solution.
*Wisdom and judgment are required to determine when combat is correct.
*Senseless violence will only lead to a lessening of the net populace, and fewer soldiers.
*Assassination is wrong, ambushes are tactical wisdom.
