FACT FILE: Ground/Deck Crew MOSs
600 Ground Crewman
Ground Crewmen are responsible for basic technical support for
all kinds of aerospace craft. They load, unload and refuel aerospace vehicles
in hangar bays, launch areas, and air bases. They also act as ground guides
for vehicles that taxi or line up for launch, guiding the pilot with radio
and illuminated batons.
601 Technical Specialist, Mechanical Systems
This MOS is the technical support for all aerospace craft mechanical
systems, such as aerodynamic lifting surfaces, bomb doors and hoists, landing
gear and other mechanisms with mechanical or electromechanical drives.
Members of this MOS perform routine maintenance and repairs on all such
systems, regardless of the actual airframe involved.
602 Technical Specialist, Electrical Systems
This MOS is the technical support for all aerospace craft electrical
systems, such as the avionics and navigation systems, sensors, computer
equipment and any other systems with primarily electrical or electroplasmic
components. Members of this MOS perform routine maintenance and repairs
on all such systems, regardless of the actual airframe involved.
603 Technical Specialist, Power/Propulsion Systems
This MOS is the technical support for all aerospace craft power
and propulsion systems. This includes impulse and warp drives, micro-core
reactor units, fusion charge packs, maneuvering thrusters and all power
distribution networks in the airframe. Members of this MOS perform routine
maintenance and repairs on all such systems, regardless of the actual airframe
involved.
604 Technical Specialist, Ordnance Systems
This MOS is the technical support for all aerospace craft ordnance
systems. This includes hardpoints, internal and externally mounted weapon
systems, specialized targeting sensors and actual ordnance that is carried
or launched by the aerospace craft. Members of this MOS perform routine
maintenance and repairs on all such systems, regardless of the actual airframe
involved.
605 Technical Specialist, Support Systems
This MOS is the technical support for all support systems found
on aerospace craft. This includes electronic countermeasure equipment,
flare and chaff dispensers, emergency egress and ejection systems, communication
equipment and anything not specifically covered by the other support technicians.
Members of this MOS perform routine maintenance and repairs on all such
systems, regardless of the actual airframe involved.
