FACT FILE: E-3 Guardian
The E-3 is the warp capable strategic version of the Crusader,
and its mission is exactly the same. However, the Guardian is also used
as a long range scout, traveling ahead of a task force while it scans for
enemy vessels and obstacles. The E-3 also carries a pair of MOSS decoys,
which are small programmable missiles that simulate the Guardian when launched.
These are used to draw seeking weapons off target and make it difficult
for direct fire weapons to get a fix on the vehicle. These decoys are sometimes
referred to as "Wild Weasels", in reference to the 20th century
aircraft that functioned in a similar fashion.

The Equipment Rating System
The preceeding descriptions of aerospace craft use a rating
system, rather than precise numbers. This is to simplify the factsheets,
and to make it easier to understand how each specific aerospace craft compares
to others. A value of zero (0) means none, while a value of 1 means minimal
and 10 means maximum within a given statistic.
