the ultimate cheese cake...

Artery clogging at it's Best!

When I started my career as a RN 22 years ago, I met a lady in her late fifties, her name was Audry. She made the best cheese cake ever! It's not just cheese but also has a cake texture to it...ummmm! So here is the recipe... We call it "The Nurse's Artery Clogging Cheese Cake"...

  • 3 8oz cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 eggs

Cream together cream cheese, sour cream, and sugar. Add vanilla and mix well. Add eggs 2 at a time and beat well. Set aside.

    Cake Mixture

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Sift these three ingredients together

  • 1 stick oleo or butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon of milk

Cream oleo or butter, sugar, and vanilla, then add milk and beat mixture well. Add eggs and beat well. Next add dry ingredients gradually and mix well.

Take 9x13x2 inch pan and grease it. Pour the cake mixture and spread over the bottom and the sides of the pan. Don't be worried if it looks like their isn't much cake batter. The recipe calls only for enough to spread over the bottom and sides of the pan. Then pour cream cheese mixture over this and bake in an oven heated 325 degrees F for 1 hour. Take out of oven and spread over the top of cake with the following mixture:

  • Topping Mixture

  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • Add sugar to taste
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla and mix well

Return to oven for 5 minutes. Then remove and cool well before cutting or topping with strawberries, blueberries, cherries, or just eat it plain!

My, my, my!! I think I'll have to make one this week!

    Enjoy!
