OVERVIEW

In this mission, one force has been routed and is being viciously pursued by its attackers. Their only hope is to regroup and counter-attack.

SCENARIO SPECIAL RULES

Victory Points and Reserves rules are used.

SET-UP

1 Each player must choose some of their army to play the part of the fall back models (in the case of the defenders), or the advancing models (in the case of the attackers). Two units per every 500 points of troops used in the game from each army must play these roles. In some circumstances, these groups may form the entire army.

2 Each player rolls a D6, the highest scorer choosing which long table-edge to deploy on.

3 The defender should have an army divided into two sections: SECTION 1 (the retreating fall back troops) and SECTION 2 (the re-inforcements). If you don't have more units than two per every 500 points, the entire force is included in SECTION 1.

4 The attacker should have an army divided into two sections: SECTION A (the advancing troops) and SECTION B (the reserves). If you don't have more units than two per every 500 points, the entire force is included in SECTION A.

5 The defender deploys all SECTION 2 troops within 12" of the defender's board edge.

6 The defender now lines up all SECTION 1 troops along the edge of the attacker's board edge. Each of these units is moved 4D6" in a straight line towards the defender's board edge.

7 The attacker now deploys all SECTION A troops along the attacker's board edge, placing one unit behind each of the defedning units. Each of these units is moved 2D6" in a straight line towards the corresponding fall back unit (or the nearest unit if there aren't enough defenders). Advancing units may not move past the units they are pursuing, but instead are placed in base contact, just as if they'd made an assault.

8 SECTION 1 troops are falling back and must continue to fall back 2D6" until they pass a Morale test (Space Marine players will be very lucky in this respect). Vehicles do not fall back and follow normal rules for vehicles. SECTION A troops are advancing and at the start of the first turn, must decide whether to advance or consolidate as per the normal rules. Units engaged in close combat at the start of the game act as if the attacker unit had just assaulted the other unit (the defender is not immediately wiped out). It is possible to use the crossfire rule to eliminate other fall back units.

MISSION OBJECTIVE

Determine a victor using the Victory Points method.

RESERVES

The attacking player may bring on reserves as per the normal rules.

GAME LENGTH

The game lasts six turns.

LINE OF RETREAT

Troops that are forced to fall back do so towards their own table edge. 1
