Rethrys is the daughter of a Lord and has been brought up on the unfortunate assumption that this makes her better than everybody else. Her recent Impression of a gold dragon has not made her any more bearable.

However, beneath the surface, Rethrys is desperately insecure and seeks to prove her own superiority by taking the fullest advantage of her rank. This flaw is made worse by her susceptibility to flattery and her total political naivete.

She has strict Holder morals which means that, although she is willing to flirt, she refuses to take it any further. This has earned her yet more dislike in the Weyr, where people are used to flirting leading to something more. Added to this, she is superficially stunning - tall, perfect figure and long, blonde hair.
