Cover Art Competition, 2003: Parody Entry 1 by Glenn Butler

Comments:

The parody entries are pure genius. Personally, I'm looking forward to "Andor's Boner".

Looks a little too much like a text book! (Obviously you haven't seen the upcoming covers for the "A Time To..." novels - Ian.)

This made me laugh out loud. Khest'n hilarious! I will guess that Todd "Scavenger" Kogutt did both parodies (Nope - Ian) - he is a talented guy.

This is professionally done, I like the font. But I hate the image and the "Error", whatever, stuff on the side. What is that? That's just weird. Good thing it's a parody. (Obviously you haven't seen the upcoming covers for the "A Time To..." novels either - Ian.)

I love the "Author of..." at the bottom!

When I read (the mention on Psi Phi) about parodies, I fully expected to be voting for these. I often find parodies superior to originals. In this case, while I find Entry P1 amusing as a joke picture, I don't find it remotely appealing as cover art.

Ian's comments:

This parody cover arrived within an hour of me announcing the contest on Psi Phi. I had a great laugh and every time I look at it, I notice more and more detail. The tagline filled with the frequent "TM"s, and in a point size as large as the tagline, is hilarious! The image of Shras, poached from my own website(!) and filled with those interference lines, but many, many more - and much thicker - than those controversial ones on the first Picard "A Time To..." cover is great! And those wacky synonyms for "Folly". Well done! Fun, fun, fun!
