Clone Wars 3-Packs Review Update

Ray H. adds to my review below. Keep in mind that my reviews were done without opening the toys.

We opened the Droid Launcher 3-Pack here. Josh thought it was the coolest, I wanted to open the Clone Troopers first.   The Destroyer droid has only 3 points of articulation. (Shoulders and Head, the Head movement is VERY limited) The launcher is fun to play with. It took a few tries to get it to roll like in the movie, but pulling hard enough (NOT too hard) makes the movie scene. The older R2-Case rolled up droid is not as balanced as the new one and is harder to roll. Josh seems to do it but I can't.   The Droid launcher is NOT for adult collectors like the others. I think this one aimed more for kids play.

Clone Wars 3-Packs Review

Ray H. picked up this set of 3-packs for me earlier in the week, thanks again Ray. All of the figures are pretty basic in order to meet the $10.99 price point. The packaging is a nice change, but makes taking pictures difficult. The Clone Trooper Army contains all white troopers. There have been pictures where one of the troopers has been in other colors such as yellow and green. I assume that there will be running variations on this. Each figure has three points of articulation (neck and shoulders). One has a rifle while the other two have smaller Stormtrooper like guns. Otherwise, these guys are pretty much molded into their respected positions. The Separatist Droid army includes a Super Battle Droid, Red Battle Droid, and a Red Destroyer Droid. The Super Battle Droid appears to have four points of articulation at the shoulders and hips. I really wish they had made him with his wrist turned like he is firing his weapons. The Battle Droid has the standard five points of articulation and includes a new version of the its gun. The Destroyer Droid has an articulated head and shoulders. There may be some articulation to its legs and he may also have a bendable spine, but I can't tell for sure. The Destroyer Droid Battle Launcher set includes the same Destroyer Droid as the previous set plus a rolled up Destroyer Droid and a launcher. The rolled up Destroyer Droid is a new sculpt based on its trademark date, but it is still ridiculously small compared to the other Destroyer Droid in the set. The Clone and Droid army sets are pretty nice for the price, but the Destroyer Droid Launcher set just seems weak.

Clone Wars 3-Packs

Ray H. reports that TRU west in Madison had in some of these new 3-packs. He saw the Clone Troopers, Separatist Droids, and Destroyer Droid launcher. But, he did not see the Jedi pack. TRU's price is $10.99 each.
