25th Anniversary 2-Packs

I found a case of these at Wal-Mart east in Madison this morning. Wal-Mart's price is $14.97 each, which is about a dollar less than Target. The Swing to Freedom set contains a fairly nice Leia, maybe the best likeness of her in the white outfit. The Luke figure is OK, but I wish the Stormtrooper belt was detailed a little better. Leia comes with a Stormtrooper blaster while Luke has an oversized grappling hook. The grappling hook isn't as bad as I was thinking it would be. The Death Star Escape set contains a great likeness of both Chewy and Han. Chewy actually comes with a decent looking crossbow while Han has his standard blaster, a working holster, and a removable vest. In both sets the figures are posed in a very scene specific fashion although Leia looks to be in the most neutral pose. They come in a very nice looking box that will be great for display purposes. The Luke & Leia set is in .0000 boxes while the Han & Chewy set is in .0100 boxes.

Eeth Koth & Zutton

I ordered these from dnstoys.com and they arrived in decent shape. Eeth Koth is posed in a fighting stance, which I find kind of odd since all he did was sit in the movie. He does have a sculpted blade on his lightsaber and swivel joints at the elbows. Zutton is a nice Cantina character that comes with articulated knees, a drinking glass, a small gun, and a large gun. The large gun is kind of a throw back to when Hasbro had to have a ridiculousy huge gun to go with every figure. Zutton comes on a .0400 card while Eeth Koth comes on a .0500 card (both without Force Files).

Amanaman & Leia with Sail Barge Cannon

The latest wave of Deluxe figures are starting to hit in the area. Amanaman is a nice figure that I have been waiting for quite some time. He has ball joint shoulders, a nicely detailed staff, Salacious Crumb, and a skeleton. I still think he looks small, but photos seem to indicate otherwise. Princess Leia with Sail Barge Cannon falls into the huge bubble category for sure. She is nicely done having a cloth skirt and fiber hair. She comes with a force pike as well as the cannon. Now all we need is a Sail Barge playset. Amanaman comes on .0300 & .0600 cards while Leia comes on .0200 & .0700 cards.

FX-7 Wave

I ordered a bunch of these figures from the Fan Club. They arrived double boxed and in great shape for what I would pay at TRU. This is possibly the best wave of figures that Hasbro has ever released. FX-7 is very nice. He fits into the Luke with Bacta Tank set nicely, has a nicely done paint job, and two points of articulation on each of his arms. He comes on a .0000 card. Queen Amidala (Royal Decoy) is pretty nice, but is overshadowed by the other figures in this wave. She has articulated elbows on each arm and a nice paint job. She comes on a .0100 card. The Rebel Trooper (Tantive IV Defender) is a great army builder figure. He comes with articulated wrists and ankles along with swivel joint knees. This allows for quite a bit of posability. The only drawbacks that I see is that the gun seems quite small and there seems to be some quality issues with the paint on his helmet (overspray and finger prints on two of the figures I have. He comes on a .0200 card. The Imperial Officer is another great army builder figure. He comes with swivel joints on both his wrists and elbows along with a Stormtrooper blaster. This figure comes on a .0300 card. All of the figures are now on cards missing the Force Files which is OK by me. One thing I wonder about is if Hasbro will release the Rebel Trooper and the Imperial Officer with alternate head sculpts like they had stated. I just don't see this wave shipping that long before the EP2 figures start to ship.
