Chapter Seven

Wednesday, 8/11/93: What was my dream? Vaguely it was that
everythin was a dream--with Def Leppard, that is. I was
around the Leps after the show, probably (in my dream).

Saturday, 8/21/93 Dream: Jeremy and I were at Merriweather
Post Pavilion in Columbia MD to see Def Leppard. First we
had to watch a rodeo. Then once inside the building, we
had to wait for the box office to open to buy tickets.
I had $30 from the MAC. The lady said two tickets was $50.
The MAC had other programs that would not switch off to
give me more money than $4. Some other lady waited
patiently--she needed money, too, for herself and her son.

As Leppard Luck would have it, we again managed to get good
seats, Dawn on the aisle at stage left, about 100 feet from
stage. Before show, I spoke to a director who delivered
our birthday cards and gifts to Vivian's dressing room.
The lighting director joked as I handed the gift bags to
him, I said, "This one's from me," referrin to the leopard
bag. He said, "and this one's from me!" I'll see that he
gets it and then stop by later to talk to you."
Unfortunately, that never happened.

Sun. 8-22-93
Dawn and I were at Columbia MD DL gig tryin
to get backstage ahead of the band to greet
them. I said, "Shit--I forgot my T-shirt and
pen--and Vivian's card and gift!"

While standin near the gate, a manager gave
me a T-shirt and said, "Take this Proclaimer
downstairs and give it to someone."
The Proclaimer was written in 2" high letters
statin I had nothin to do with the show.
We walked by a dozen Security who never stopped
us. I was lookin for a friend of Frank's to
give us backstage passes. We stopped at the
stage where some water laid on a riser.
A guard came by, saw me and called out my name.

Dawn and I stood at the end of a long hall.
The doors at the end swung open as a parade
of band/entourage headed toward us. I stepped
back as Rick, Sav, Viv and Joe passed. When
Phil came I called out his name and he said
he'd had an operation on a major leg muscle
yesterday. I asked how he felt, he came toward
me said, "Okay--no not so good," but did not
explain.

I talked to him about my son. We were at Phila
(he looked at Dawn and said he recognised us!)
He began writing something to Jeremy then said
they would be at York Fairgrounds next week!
Would we come to the show? I said we would like
to and could we have some backstage passes now?

THE END

Arrived at Merriweather Post Pavilion at 4:30, bought
tickets, parked on grass and ate lunch. At rear gate, sat
on blanket as van brought Joe Elliott in. Before enterin
pavilion, Vivian was kicking around a soccer ball on a
basketball court. There were two fences between us. I
said to him, "Hi--we missed your birthday," but he either
didn't hear/notice me or just chose to ignore me. That
was Dawn's highlight--watchin him kick the soccer ball
around.

Def Leppard took notice to us even thirty rows back! I
tried to stand on the stairs. Security wouldn't let me, so
I pushed Dawn in and took the aisle seat. We were slap-
happy during the show so they did take particular notice
to us. Dawn received several 'thumbs up' from Phil, so I
then received one 'thumb up' from Sav! My highlight, Joe
said, "Are any of you from Baltimore?" and looked right at
me! I shook my head, "NO!" He seemed to nod to assess
that he already knew that!

After the show, Dawn and I ran into the director and asked
if he delivered the gifts to Vivian, and thanking him. He
said, "He didn't open the present. It's waiting for him in
his dressing room so he will get it." We thanked him again
and I told him, "It was nice meeting you."
