'The witches of Elsdon' centres around the story of Jenet of Elsdon who is tried and unfairly convicted of witchcraft in her village by the Sheriff, Abbot Hugo and Gisburne. Once convicted, Jenet and her husband are taken to Nottingham and thrown in the dungeon.

In the meantime, Robin and his men had intercepted the Sheriff's tax collector and taken all the money. This drives the Sheriff to think of a new way to stop the Hooded man and his men. He descides to use Jenet as a 'Ferret' to catch him. The sheriff stages a chase through sherwood, with Jenet as the quarry, and, of course, Robin rescues her. Jenet becomes friendly with all of them (especially Will), and gradually gains their trust, all except Marian. She had been given a vision by Herne warning her of Jenet's intentions.

When dinner time comes one night, Jenet slips some herbal drug into the wine to make everyone sleep. This is so the Sheriff's men could capture them as they were unconcious, and in return for doing this, Jenet and her husband would be set free. Jenet however puts a small dose in, so, when the Sheriff's men come, Robin Hood and his men are really awake, and evade capture. They question Jenet, and find out that it was for the safety of her husband, that Jenet did what she did.

Having captured Gisburne in the fight, Robin goes to Nottingham Castle, posing as Gisburne. Here he duels with the Sheriff, which he wins, and bargains Gisburne's life for Jenet's husband's. From here on it is all 'happily ever after'. Jenet and her husband return to Elsdon. And Marian and Robin sort out their differences.
