This is the one that has Oliver Tobias (a fairly famous 80's British actor) as the leader of a band of French Mercenaries. It begins with Robin Hood and his men celebrating 'The Time of the Blessing' (a pagan festival) in their neighbouring village of Wycombe. Meanwhile in Nottingham, Abott Hugo is having a go a Gigburne for cutting off one of his servants' hands. At this point, one of the other woodsmen points out to Gisburne that it is the time of the blessing, and that no blood can be shed during this time. Whilst the others are celebrating at the festival, the band of mercenaries, led by Bertrand turn up at Nottingham. It turns out that Bertrand is an old war companion of Gisburnes, but does not like to mention the things that he did wrong during this time!
The following day, Robin and his men are having fun wrestling in the woods when they learn of a bar that has been wrecked by Bertrand and his men when they visited it. At the same time, Gisburne and the mercenaries decide to visit the village of Wycombe. Gisburne makes fun of them worshipping the trees and breaks a sacred set of antlers and tries to hack down one of the trees with an axe. He doesn't get very far though and is ridiculed by the mercenaries for chopping at a tree!
When Robin and his men return to Wycombe to find destruction, they immediately devise a plan to get revenge against Gisburne. However, because it is the time of the blessing they can have no blood-shed, so they have to resort to a large net up a tree! Robin and John lure Gisburne and the mercenaries to the tree. They follow becuse they know that they will not shed any blood. Just before they get to the tree, however, Bertrand decides that it is too suspicious and must be a trap, so they turn around and leave. They return to Wycombe where they make themselves at home and gorge themselves on the villagers' food. At this point, Robin and his men turn up disguised as actors and put on a show of 'St.George and the Dragon'. They use this as cover and attack Gisburne with their bare hands, but do not kill anyone. Once defeated, they tie up Gisburne and the rest of the mercenaries and head off into the woods to worship Herne, leaving a cople of men to guard the prisoners. Bertrand manages to escape, overcome the guards and free the others. Whilst they are dancing in the woods, Herne appears to the villagers to give them his blessing. Bertrand has also found his way to the woods and shoots Herne with a crossbow while he is standing in front of the people. Chaos follows as the mercenaries attack the villagers, and Gisburne persues Herne into the forest. He fails to find Herne, however, and becomes hopelessly lost. Whilst in the forest he is haunted by the spirit of the trees, and basically, totally looses the plot!! Upon returning to the Castle he recieves the inevitable ridiculing from Abbott Hugo!
The following day, the mercenaries return to the pub that they had destroyed previously. There is a mysterious hooded figure having a drink in there who the men all try to make pay for their drinks. It turns out to be Robin who attacks the men and rest of his men come in to help. Robin defeats Bertrand, and Bertrand hands his sword to Marion in submission. But rather than giving it to her he pulls her in with it. He uses her as cover and puts her on his horse and rides off. Robin lines up an arrow on the escaping mercenary and lets go just before they go out of sight. He scores a direct hit a kills Bertrand stone dead. They finish by rounding up the rest of the mercenaries and kicking them out of Sherwood, making sure they will never return.
