Table of Organisation and Equipment

Section and Platoon Level

As a fifth wave nation, a standard New Zealand "infantry" platoon in fact consists mostly of cybershells, with merely a pair of human officers who supervise. In the unlikely event of both humans being killed, command falls one of the SAIs, whose instructions are to inform company command, continue the mission, and avoid interaction with non-combatant humans.

Variants: A Heavy Infantry Platoon is as above, but replaces the Taipan's with Type 100 Mountain Cat RATS (see p. TS124). In the artillery a platoon is called a Gun Section, and consists of a command section (as above) and 3 58mm 'Reaper' Cybershell Artillery Cannons running NAI-8's with targetting software. An Engineering Section consists of a command section (as above), 2 Polypede engineering cybershells (see p. TS123) running LAI-7's, and a team of 4 qualified engineers wearing Ironman battlesuits. An Aerospace Defense Platoon consists of a command section and 2 'Flyspray' Air-Defense Cybershells running NAI-6's.

Company Level

The company is the most common operational level for the NZDF, operating as they do mostly within underwater and surf arcologies. However even though they will spend the majority of their time deployed as company taskforces (see below) companies retain a traditional organisation so as to still be able to perform larger operations.

Company Taskforce: A company taskforce is a standard infantry company, reinforced by both a supply platoon (consists of a lieutenant, 2 sublieutenants, and 2 large 3D printers) and a communications platoon (consists of a major, one lieutenant acting as intelligence officer, one lieutenant acting as national command liason, 3 sublieutenants as assistants, and various comms and intelligence gathering cybershells and equipment).

Variants: An Artillery Battery consists of a command platoon and 3 gun sections, and similarly an Engineering Company consists of a command platoon and 3 engineering sections.

Battalion Level

The battalion is the largest standing formation maintained by the NZDF, with 4 regular and 2 reserve (territorial) battalions available.

Regiments: A regiment (otherwise known as a battalion taskforce) consists of an infantry battalion, reinforced with whatever forces are available and suitable for given deployment. A typical regiment will include additional communications and engineering elements, plus some attached sea-lift transport and air support. 1
