Table of Organisation and Equipment
Section and Platoon Level
As a fifth wave nation, a standard New Zealand "infantry" platoon in fact consists mostly
of cybershells, with merely a pair of human officers who supervise. In the unlikely event of
both humans being killed, command falls one of the SAIs, whose instructions are to
inform company command, continue the mission, and avoid interaction with non-combatant
humans.
- Command Section
The platoon command section consists of 2 human officers (typically a
Lieutenant and a Sublieutenant) wearing Ironman battlesuits (use Centurion
stats, but add Chameleon and IR cloaking; p. TS160-161), and armed with PW-12
battle rifles. They will have virtual interface and communicator implants, loaded with
NAI-6's running platoon level TacNet software. The officers are accompanied by
a bodyguard of 6 Taipan RATS running
LAI-6's.
- 3 × Infantry Sections (Alpha, Beta, Gamma)
Each infantry section consists of 8 Taipan RATS,
including six 'privates' running LAI-6's, a 'corporal' running a LAI-7, and a
'sergeant' running a SAI-7. All sergeants and coporals have squad level TacNet software.
Two members of the squad will have the standard 15mm AMR replaced by a twin T-46 LAW
pod.
Variants: A Heavy Infantry Platoon is as above, but replaces the
Taipan's with Type 100 Mountain Cat RATS (see p. TS124). In the artillery a platoon
is called a Gun Section, and consists of a command section (as above) and 3
58mm 'Reaper' Cybershell Artillery Cannons
running NAI-8's with targetting software.
An Engineering Section consists of a command section (as above),
2 Polypede engineering cybershells (see p. TS123) running LAI-7's, and a team of 4
qualified engineers wearing Ironman battlesuits. An Aerospace Defense Platoon
consists of a command section and 2 'Flyspray' Air-Defense Cybershells running
NAI-6's.
Company Level
The company is the most common operational level for the NZDF, operating as they do
mostly within underwater and surf arcologies. However even though they will spend the
majority of their time deployed as company taskforces (see below) companies retain a
traditional organisation so as to still be able to perform larger operations.
- Command Platoon
A command platoon consists of 6 human officers (a Captain, a Major, two
Lieutenants, and two Sublieutenants) and a bodyguard of 6 Mountain Cat RATS,
one of which is running a SAI-7, the rest have LAI-6's.
Equipment is as per a command section, except that the TacNet software is for
company level operations.
- 3 × Infantry Platoons (1st, 2nd, and 3rd)
- Gun Section (4th)
Company Taskforce: A company taskforce is a standard infantry company,
reinforced by both a supply platoon (consists of a lieutenant, 2 sublieutenants, and
2 large 3D printers) and a communications platoon (consists of a major, one
lieutenant acting as intelligence officer, one lieutenant acting as national
command liason, 3 sublieutenants as assistants, and various comms and
intelligence gathering cybershells and equipment).
Variants: An Artillery Battery consists of a command platoon and 3
gun sections, and similarly an Engineering Company consists of a command
platoon and 3 engineering sections.
Battalion Level
The battalion is the largest standing formation maintained by the NZDF, with 4 regular and
2 reserve (territorial) battalions available.
- Battalion HQ
A battalion HQ consists of a command platoon (as per company command platoon,
except highest officers are a Colonel and a Captain
with Battalion level TacNet software), a communications platoon, and an
engineering platoon.
- 4 × Infantry Companies (Whisky, Yankee, X-Ray, and Zulu)
- Aerospace Defense Company
An aerospace defense company consists of a command section (exactly as
per company command section), 3 aerospace defense platoons, and 2
TRT-12 armoured vehicles.
Regiments: A regiment (otherwise known as a battalion taskforce)
consists of an infantry battalion, reinforced with whatever forces
are available and suitable for given deployment. A typical regiment will include
additional communications and engineering elements, plus some attached
sea-lift transport and air support.
