The Law Dogs - Allies

Sometimes the Law can't do things by themselves. That's when you need to call in outsiders. You can only rely on a few, and they've got to be trustworthy. Still, even in Gomorra a few folks can be found that you can count on.

Hangin' Judge Gabriel Draw 1 / Influence 3 / Cost 8 / Upkeep 2 / Rare

Would you care for one lump or two, Mr. O'Malley? Yes, I've found a formidable stature helps to deter law-breakers in my endless quest to bring justice to the West. And while you and I both know there are no such things as ghostly 'hangin' judges," invoking their legendary presence further bolsters my own ability to enforce the law. Above the law? Heavens no. I like to think that the law recognizes my contributions and declines to issue warrants because of my unique...approach. Very few people complain about the ones that I...dispose of, shall we say?

Hunter's Notes: Kind of a weird one, since those of us familiar with the Deadlands would think this guy would be a Terror. But no, he just seems to be your average schmuck, albeit a rather influential one. He's not a very good fighter, and if nothing else the Law Dogs can use him to call out Wanted Dudes at their own Private Deeds. Still, the best bet is to toss him and burn a high-Influence Wanted dude. Use Hell's Fury and multiple copies, and bring him back Harrowed. Okay, then he's a Terror. His Ten-Value keeps him coming back for more.

Cassidy Greene Draw 0 / Influence 1 / Cost 2 / Upkeep 0 / Common

I've always had the utmost respect for our boys in law enforcement. Sheriff Hunter in particular. I hope I can be of suitable encouragement to him. Particularly now, in his time of need.

Hunter's Notes: Cheap, provides some early starting Influence, and can give a +1 Bullet boost to some already pretty formidable Law Dogs. Just remember that she can't use her Bullet-boosting ability at Outfit HQ or Town Square.

Nelson Roberts Stud 2 / Influence 0 / Cost 5 / Upkeep 0 / The Agency / Rare

I'm much obliged for Mr. Coleman for taking me on. Yeah, I could've worked with the Northern troops, but I haven't been that impressed with them or the South. A man has to go his own way, and put his hands to what he can do best. Besides, me and Mr. Coleman have a history together.

Hunter's Notes: He's a cheap Stud-2 with a fairly high Value and a good Cost. Keep him on your A-List of folks to consider. Of course, he might find his way into other Outfits beside the Agency as well, since they don't have as many Studs as the Law Dogs tend to.

Professor Susan Franklin Draw 0 / Influence 0 / Cost 3 / Production 1 / Collegium / Common

They're Law Dogs. They wear stars on the chest. Need I explain further? Oh well. Keep in mind that there are reasons of great historical significance why the star was chosen as the symbol of law enforcement. I suppose we should be thankful the six-sided version hasn't caught on out here.

Hunter's Notes: You can't start with her, but she can prove a useful income provider. Given their expensive nature, it should come of no surprise that I find myself a little ghostrock shy from time to time: Prof. Franklin can help out there. Hired Guns will get her out quickly. And hey, she'll basically cover the cost of a Nate Hunter or Dave Montreal. You can't argue with that.

Rails Richardson Draw 2 / Influence 0 / Cost 3 / Upkeep 0 / Texas Ranger / Rare (Common in Pinebox)

South...north...don't matter to me. The folks that'll let me move around the fastest are who I'll work with. Besides, workin' with the law means I don't have to argue with anyone over right-of-way.

Hunter's Notes: Rapid movement means that you can move "Rails" and another Dude (like Dave Montreal...?) out from one Strike to another. If you've already got some booted Dudes out there, send "Rails" and his buddy out there to start a Shootout.

Sally Daniels Draw 0 / Influence 0 / Cost 3 / Upkeep 0 / Maze Rat / MoH Common<

I'm eternally grateful to Sheriff Hunter for converting me to the ways of the law. That mean ole Mr. Longfellow just swayed me away from the path of goodness. Your wallet? Haven't seen it. I'm sure it's around here somewhere...

Hunter's Notes: Good for relieving your opponent of Weapons. Sally can then hand them back over to you, where you can put them to the proper use. Just watch when you're designing your deck so you got the right percentage of high-Value cards for Pulls.

Sheila Mirabella Draw 0 / Influence 0 / Cost 6 / Production 1 / Drifter / Rare

Take the word of someone who likes hangin' out there in the wilderness, running supplies to anyone who'll pay the price: the law is badly needed out there. There's times when a gal and her gun just can't do it on their own. As long as Coleman, Hunter, and their boys turn a blind eye to my own...dubious activities, I'll be glad to help them.

Hunter's Notes: A little (well, a lot) expensive, but once she's out she'll give you some much-needed Production. She can also let you equip in the field, although that can get a bit pricey.

Ainsley Cunningham Stud 2 / Influence 0 / Cost 5 / Upkeep 0 / Huckster 0 / Maze Rat / RoS Common

Hector Casparo: Believe it or not, Nate, I won him in a bet. Some Hucksters may be good with cards, but they ain't good with gamblin'. He's cheap, and I'll keep him on a tight leash. Right now I don't think we can afford to do without him, despite his...'strange' habits.

Hunter's Notes: A slightly over-priced Stud (but without the Upkeep!). Not bad if you need a Huckster. Granted, there ain't a lot of Law Dog/Huckster decks out there (I guess...). But at least if you're going to go that route, Ainsley can fight it out with you. If nothing else, tweek him a bit with Bolts O' Doom. Of course, if you run into the Maze Rats and they're using Hexes, they'll probably be doing the same...

Hope in Winter Stud 1 / Influence 0 / Cost 4 / Sioux Union / RoS Common

Redbrook has convinced me that your fight is mine, Sheriff Hunter. With the disappearance of Joseph, I feel it is best that if I am going to lay down my life, it be with the faction in Gomorra that has the greatest chance of accomplishing the most.

Hunter's Notes: Her mobility may help the Sioux Nation, but it ain't bad for, say, Judge Henry Warwick if you're going to have him form up a Posse either to bring in an evil-doer. An Ambush or two against Wanted Dudes might not go amiss, either. The Law Dogs aren't known for their innate mobility, so Hope in Winter can help out here a bit.

Angus McFadden Draw 2 / Influence 2 / Cost 5 / Upkeep 1 / Blessed 0 / Drifter / MoH Common

Reverend MacPherson: In the Holy War against evil, one must accept whatever converts come one's way. McFadden is not as skilled as myself in the ways of God, but he's a two-fisted fighter and that tends to make up for much.

Hunter's Notes: Not the best Blessed in the world - I wouldn't trust him with a Lay on Hands myself. However, put a few of the lesser "law enforcement" miracles on him and he's useful enough. Test of Faith or a Pearl-Handled Revolver will make him competent in a shootout as well. For the Upkeep-1, he's a good buy.

Phillip Goodson Draw 1 / Influence 1 / Cost 4 / Upkeep 2 / Drifter / Abomination / MoH Rare

Deputy John Templeton: Ahhh, what a cute little tyke. Don't you pay the Reverend no never mind, kid. I'll take ya under my wing and teach ya what's what. Don't take the 'spawn of Satan' thing personally - he rants like that about half the folks in town.

Hunter's Notes: Kinda pricey Upkeep-wise, but if you're running the Law Dogs you're probably used to that. Only of real use to law enforcement "miracle" decks, but if you build for those 7's, you can come off pretty well. Like Angus (see above), don't trust him with the really useful miracles like Lay On Hands, but for the lesser stuff, Phillip will suffice.

Lechery Draw 1 / Influence 1 / Cost 4 / Upkeep 0 / Blessed 1 / Flock / Common (also in Pine Box)

Xiong "Wendy" Cheng: I don't care what arrangements Sheriff Hunter came to with your boss, Elijah. if you don't take those eyes off of my...shirt, I'll pistol whip you straight back to him for good.

Hunter's Notes: You can't start with him, but his Blessed 1 actually makes him a bit of an improvement over those Drifters out there. The Upkeep-1 isn't too bad, considering you're probably used to at least that much on most of your Dudes. Probably doesn't make much sense from a storyline point of view for the Law Dogs to recruit him, but if you need the Miracle-Casters, who can complain?

Killer Kerry Stud 2 / Influence 1 / Cost 5 / Upkeep 1 / Sweet Rock / Rev Common

Xiong "Wendy" Cheng: What we need are more women in law enforcement in Gomorra. What with Corky no longer among us and Jenny way too young. Miz Kerry should make a valuable addition to our organization.

Hunter's Notes: A little pricey, but I tend to find her ability a bit more useful than Nowhere to Run, and I don't mind the extra Stud in my posse. Plus she (apparently) doesn't have to actually be in the Posse, since her ability is a Reaction and all. Works for me.

April Segarra Stud 1 / Influence 0 / Cost 2 / Upkeep 0 / EFE Uncommon

For now, I simply purchase my devices from Smith & Roebards to bring in criminals. But I look forward to the day when I can build my own. I hear tell of one of the Law Dogs, Lukas Owens, who brought scientific expertise to the field of law enforcement. I never met the man, but I look forward to emulating his example.

Hunter's Notes: If you're still using the "old" Law Dogs, very useful indeed. Not quite as useful for the Hunter's Office gang, because you've got an unlimited number of call outs of Wanted Dudes anyway. Basically a cheap Stud - if you can afford to start her and don't need the Influence, go for it.
