This conversion falls under the 'duh' file. As all Star Wars modelers will tell you, MPC put out a nice Darth Vader T.I.E Fighter, and then a nice T.I.E Interceptor model, but the one that appeared in all three films, The T.I.E. Fighter was not. Why Not? All they had to do was to change two panels on the Interceptor and Viola! that's it. Duhh. Simple idea, no one at MPC or now ERTL had the slightest. Well Macro trek did. This conversion Gives you the 2 solar Panels, two Thrusters, and two laser canons. First off, the panels, In other conversions I've looked at by Macrotrek, they've had a problem with keeping their flat resin surfaces, Flat. Don't worry about that with this kit! These panels are great, they even remembered to make sure the panels were running vertical not horizontal (SW fans know what I mean). They could however use a bit more detail. but they are great nonetheless. Next the two canons are just nice basic canons that go under the windshield. And last but not least the 'Thrusters' as they call them. The T.I.E. Fighter gets its name from it's Twin Ion Engines. The Thrusters in this kit are Those Engines and should be placed on the Back of the kit along the rear horizon seam and not along the front. The reason they say to put them on the front is because the ship is supposed to have two pieces very similar to these Thrusters on the front that are easily made using the Engines as a guide. So any SW fans that would like to modify their Interceptor, this conversion is for you!
