Laurell K. Hamilton was in town on October 17, 2000. More information on that visit forthcoming.
I was able to talk to Laurell K. Hamilton when she visited Chicago on May 14, 1998 and I have compiled a list of the tidbits I was able to find out.
-She told me she could never write a series anywhere she didn't live. She said she can do one or two books that are "trips" but she has to visit there because she likes to be very thorough as she put it, "I need to be able to see exactly where the body is going to be."
-Ms. Hamilton would like to be able to write a "dream sequence" Anita book wherein Anita would become pregnant. The only reason for this would be she would like to have Anita say some of the things she wanted to say when she was pregnant. However, she said this is a remote possibility at this stage in Anita's life for the obvious reason Anita does not want kids right now in her life. As well as the fact that the kid would be an easy hostage and Anita herself would be unable to out run the bad guys because as Ms. Hamilton put it "in your 8th month you don't walk, you waddle".
-Don't worry Richard fans, he is still in the picture.
-For those of you unclear on the concept of why Anita and Jean-Claude used a condom in THE KILLING DANCE Laurells says, "There was a woman [Monica] who was already knocked up by an over 100 years old vampire,".
-Ms. Hamilton admits she can not write the "hot" scenes when her daughter is in the house because it makes her feel "ashamed".
