10. "Hush"


A silence falls over Sunnydale when otherwordly beings come to town and steal the power of speech from all the residents. Meanwhile, Riley sees Buffy in action when they fight the visitors, and Willow attends a wicca group that's not all she had hoped. However, even though the group is not made up of serious practioners but rather girls trying to be trendy that are nonbelievers, Willow makes a friend of Tara. Tara has some knowledge of "real" witchcraft and together Willow and her make a vending machine levitate. Riley helps Buffy get everyone's voices back by breaking the visitors' box that holds the voices, and Buffy lets loose a shrill scream that literally makes the bad guys go to pieces. However, with the gift of speech back Buffy and Riley still have a hard time explaining to each other what they are, so they just sit across from each other in silence.
